The short life of Blu-ray

Most of you should remember the big marketing war between Blu-ray disks and HD-DVD's a few years ago. Well after HD-DVD's were discontinued, Blu-ray was expected to be the new standard in video technology, despite the fact that most of us still used DVD's at home. Blu-ray players have gained some popularity, Playstation 3 has a built in Blu-ray player and all PS3 games are made on Blu-ray discs. However, despite the growing popularity of Blu-ray some people feel that its victory over HD-DVD's may be short lived. Blu-ray quality 1080p video resolution can now be streamed, which means no downloads, and no disc required, so even Blu-ray discs aren't required for blu-ray quality video. According to microsoft it chose not to include a Blu-ray player in its Xbox 360 system because the company predicted that just such a thing would happen. Does this mean the end of all disc based video/movie? What do those of you who pride themselves on their movie collections think?
